Math Supplies

All students need to have a 30cm ruler (marked with millimetres) and a calculator. We do not have enough of these supplies at school (especially calculators). Please write your child's name on each item.

Valentine's Math Challenge

Roman has asked his mother to give him some money to buy
Valentine's Day cards for his class party.  His mother gives him
$6.00 to buy the cards.  When Roman visits the store he finds that
there are 5 cards in each box.  One box costs $1.40.  Roman has 26
children in his class, but he doesn't need a card for himself. He does want to give Ms. Earl a valentine. (Don't worry about the tax)

a. How many boxes does Roman need to buy to have 26 cards in all?

b. How much money will Roman spend if he gets enough cards
     for the class?

c. Will Roman have enough money?  How much money does Roman have left over, or how much more money does he need?
